Professional introduction
Dr Andrea Fiaccavento is a national and international reference in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery. His career has focused on senior clinical responsibilities and specialist leadership at leading hospitals.
Clinical leadership and management roles
In Trento, at ASUIT – Ospedale Santa Chiara, he currently serves as a consultant for endometriosis and training in advanced laparoscopic surgery.
In Peschiera del Garda, at Clinica Pederzoli, he headed the gynaecological oncology centre and the interdisciplinary centre for endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain.
In Negrar, at Ospedale Sacro Cuore Don Calabria, he began his career with the pioneering endometriosis team led by Dr Luca Minelli, subsequently taking responsibility for the outpatient clinic dedicated to chronic pelvic pain and endometriosis.
In Brescia, at ICSA, he led specialist outpatient clinics for endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain, abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB), HPV and colposcopy.
International training and academic activity
His international training includes extended practical placements at C.I.C.E. in Clermont-Ferrand, France, and Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions (JHMI) in Baltimore, USA.
His clinical and academic teaching includes more than 500 faculty appearances at international congresses on laparoscopic gynaecological surgery and numerous publications in international specialist journals. He has been scientific director of more than 50 laparoscopic surgery courses and hands-on training programmes.
He has organised educational events for scientific societies including SIGO, SIGMIG and ESGE, and in collaboration with Italian universities in Cagliari, Brescia, Naples, Foggia, Novara and Aosta. His public education work includes appearances on national television networks such as RAI Tre.
Medical innovation and surgical technologies
Dr Fiaccavento works on technological innovation applied to medicine. According to his official biography, he was the first in the world to patent “Enjoystitch”, a Surgical Gaming console. The system has brought the concept of “sustainable” surgical simulation to an international audience, introducing new ways for young surgeons to train before entering the operating theatre.
